Rare Photos of Celebrities' Grandparents Reveal Their Roots

Sometimes it feels like celebrities exist in a totally different universe. I mean, we don't really know who they are; we only see them after they've been done up for the red carpet, playing a role in a movie or on stage, or in carefully curated glimpses into their lives by way of social media post or pap walk. We know their on-screen characters, their interviews, and Instagram feeds, but rarely do we think about them as someone's grandkid (unless that grandparent was famous themself).

It shouldn't come as a surprise that when you investigate someone's roots, you ground them in reality; there is suddenly a greater context. Even the most iconic figures have family histories, awkward teenage years, and people who shaped them long before fame did. Sometimes, those family ties are very visually apparent. 

These rare photos of stars' parents, grandparents, and even great-great grandparents offer a glimpse behind the polished image that we've grown accustomed to. What's even crazier is that the resemblance is often uncanny, from identical eyes and unmistakable smiles to a general twin-like vibe that makes you do a double take.
